Industrial Medicine

Did you know that 40% of injury costs to businesses are due to medical expenses and 60% are due to disability settlements, legal payments and administrative costs?

The Industrial Medicine program serves North Dakota businesses by helping them reduce work injuries and enhance worker productivity.  The program ties worker productivity directly to health fitness issues.

By helping employers with our Industrial Medicine suite of services, we can lower businesses’ medical expenditures and improve productivity.  Expenditures will decrease due to reduced work injuries, reduced workers compensation premiums, reduced lost work time, and prevention of hiring unqualified personnel.

It was developed to create medically safe, legally compliant, scientific, and objective means of matching a worker’s functional capabilities with the essential functions of the job.  WorkSTEPS® appropriately matches employees to the essential functions of their jobs, expedites safe and early return to work and supplies objective date that results in case resolution for disputes workers’ compensation cases.

  • Instruction and assessment of body mechanics for every applicant tested
  • Each candidate who participates in a post-offer test undergoes instruction on safe and proper lifting techniques
  • WorkSTEPS® issues a capable/non-capable report on each applicant
  • Test results are delivered to the employer within 8 hours of completion of the test; most of the time within minutes of completion
  • Administered by professionals who have received intensive training by certified clinicians

Employers utilizing workSTEPS® in their prevention and work injury management program experienced average work injury reductions for 50% during the first year of implementation and continued reductions in the second and third years.  Employers can expect increased worker productivity, decreased turnover and diminished incidences of fraud and abuse.
